Warren Stiff
Warren graduated with his Bachelor in Rural Science from the University of New England in 1989. He later completed Post Graduate studies and was awarded a Master of Business Administration with a Certificate in the International Business in 1998.
Commencing as a graduate and Trainee Manager with a Rangers Valley Cattle Station P/L (RV) in 1989, Warren was introduced to grain feeding and the meat quality requirements of the discerning Japanese market. This position also introduced him into the Export meat processing field as at that time RV was exporting chilled “air carcass” and beginning its contract boning operations of long fed Angus beef at a number of East Coast abattoirs.
Later joining Australia Meat Holdings P/L (AMH) Warren amongst other special projects was responsible for implementing plant Quality Assurance programs to meet AMH, AUSMEAT and customer requirements.
Joining the Internationally well-regarded John Dee Group (JD) in 1992, Warren spent the next 30 years managing plant operations in a range of Management positions. From Quality Assurance Manager, Works Manager, General Manager and the last 5 years as Director and Chief Executive Officer of JD he has gained invaluable experience in the Australian Beef Supply Chains, Feed Lotting and specifically Export Beef Production. Warren together with his wife Lana, registered Broadwater Angus with Angus Australia in late 2015. Utilising all of their combined experience and their understanding of the cost drivers of feed lotting, plant production efficiencies, and the inherent values of meat quality they guide the everyday decisions made in the Broadwater Angus breeding programs.
Lana Stiff
Lana initially worked for ten years at a local accountancy firm TN Brown & Co, specialising in Agribusiness and general taxation. Utilising this experience Lana later operated her own contract business administration and book keeping entity.
Over the next ten years customers included Banksia Beef and JDL Partners. Both of these business in turn produced export and domestic beef as contract operators over several years. Banksia Beef itself was a Joint Venture business between John Dee Warwick as a processor partner and three individual beef groups supplying yearling carcasses into the partnership; Ebor Beef, Border Beef and Double B Beef.
In 2006 Lana managed the business administration and shop front of her own Broadwater Pastorals, Lyons Street Butchery. This continued until the business was sold in 2012.
From 2012 through until 2020 Lana worked in a range of administration roles for both Canterbury Meats and Southern Downs Grazing. The latter operation sourced and back grounded beef feeders, contract fed at a local feedlot and sold carcasses into the export trade.
” Warren has held several key positions within the John Dee group, including Human Resource Manager, Feedlot Manager, General Manager and most recently Chief Executive Officer, a position he has held for the past five years.
During his time with John Dee, Warren has been instrumental in the growth and expansion of the business. Most notably he oversaw the single largest investment in John Dee’s eighty-year history, the construction of the Regional Cold Store incorporating sophisticated material handling technology and automation.
Warren has been an unwavering supporter of the Australian Beef Industry, John Dee and the local Warwick community where the plant is located.
The John Dee Board & the Hart family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Warren for his significant contribution “
